London City Hall and Tower Bridge

As I mentioned in an earlier post, London is a fantastic city for a photographer – lots to see and all that. As we were walking down the Thames to the Tower Bridge we did the classic tourist mistake of going to London Bridge and realizing that it was a really boring Bridge and so had to walk over to the Tower Bridge which was the one we wanted to see. In fact the picture of me in my “About” page was taken from the London Bridge.

Well it’s not too bad as it got us walking more (our feet were already sore). I was astonished to find the London City Hall building so modern and at major contrast with the Tower Bride so close to each other. Something that the French would never have permitted.

But that’s the beauty of London, and that’s what gives London a difference and it’s own charm.

It’s an HDR photo obviously and as I couldn’t get all the pedestrians to stop for the three photos I had to mask them in from one of the photos.

  7. Hey Martin, you only call this best? This is not best this is excellent; this is just amazing! The lighting, the composition they’re just.. Wow!

  8. This one is my favorite of your collection, but they are all very well composed and excellent post processing!

  9. Great capture! love the lighting and HDR

  10. Nice picture. The perspective is great, the curve kind of swallows you into the picture

  11. Perfect timing! The golden clouds backing the dark, steely green-blue building. Love this shot, it’s got some great elements including composition, lines and shapes, and of course fantastic lighting/coloring. It almost looks like it has a subtle “fish-eye” effect to it when looking from bottom right to left.

  12. I love this photo – brilliant! This bit of London’s South Bank is our favourite bit to walk along as you see so many of the sights in one walk. It takes around an hour to walk from Tower Bridge to Westminster, but there are so many photo opportunities along the way – St Pauls, Tate Modern, The Royal National Theatre, the Millennium Bridge, London Eye, HMS Belfast etc. There’s more on what to see on this walk in this free guide….
